Mac Entourage is a popular personal information manager and e-mail client for Mac systems, it is a Microsoft product. Due to this, several problems arises to the integrity of your identity database.

If you are unable to open or delete items in your mail folders or suffering from any similar type of unexpected behavior then you should rebuild your database using the Entourage Database Utility. Apply the below given steps to perform database rebuild:

Step 1: Close All Open Applications

Exit from all the applications, this is to avoid any kind of software confliction issue. Select an application to close and click ‘Quit’. After closing the entire open app, refresh your Mac.

 

Step 2: Make sure that Free Space Available on the Disk

It is suggested to make sure that the available free space on hard disk must be 3-times the current size of your identity folder. To make sure, open your Identity folder from the Finder. Go to ‘File’, click ‘Get Info’, and then choose ‘Get Information’.

For example: If the size of your identity is 1 GB then you need 3 GB of free disk space

to execute the successful rebuild.

 

Step 3: Create Backup of the Current Identity

• Open ‘Finder’, click ‘Go’, and then choose ‘Home’. Double-click the ‘Documents’ folder, and then the Microsoft User Data folder.

• After it double-click on the ‘Office 2008 Identifies’ or ‘Office 2004 Identities’ folder.

• Right-click on your identity folder, and then click ‘Duplicate’.

• Now, close the entire opened window.

Step 4: Rebuild the Database

• Again close all the open apps.

• Keep pressing the Options key (ALT) present on your keyboard while rebooting Entourage 2008/2004. Don’t release the Option key until the ‘Database Utility’ window appears.

• Choose the Main Identity in the ‘Database Utility’ window. After choosing the database, click ‘Rebuild Database’, and then click ‘Continue’.

• You can see the status of rebuilding on Rebuilding Main Identify window. After the completion of process, a message will appear ‘Your database was successfully rebuilt’.

• After it, Click on the ‘Close’, and then click ‘Quit’.
   

If you are still unable to access entourage database or above process is not successful then go to the next step.

Step 5: Create a New Identity

If you are unable to fix the issue after rebuilding identity then your Exchange may be having multiple identities of which one is damaged. SO to deal with this, you need to create a new identity to resolve the problem:

• Close all the Office applications such as Entourage and Office Reminders.

• Find the given folder and copy it to your desktop.

HD/Users/USER_NAME/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2008 Identities/IDENTITY_NAME

• Execute or run Entourage. If Entourage is configured to have more than one identities then go to ‘Entourage’ menu and click ‘Switch Identity’.

• After it click on the ‘New’ and give the name of the identity to be created in the ‘Identity name’ box.

• Close the Entourage.

• Again search for the given folder and rename it to a new name:

HD/Users/USER_NAME/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2008 Identities/NEW_IDENTITY_NAME

• After it, copy the database file stored in the IDENTITY_NAME folder to the NEW_IDENTITY_NAME folder that you recently created.
